Installing a TKO / Tremec Transmission Conversion into a 1970 Cuda
To access our complete catalog of transmissions and transmission parts.
With a 383, 4sp car:
This conversion will utilize the GM “f-late” GM TKO 5sp.
You’ll need a
- Lakewood conversion bellhousing
- custom made pilot bearing
- throwout bearing
- 26 spline clutch disk
- Speedometer cable and speedo gear adapter
You can use your stock clutch components, flywheel, fork, etc.
You’ll need to modify your driveshaft to install the Ford slip yoke, and shorten your driveshaft accordingly.
You’ll need to modify your crossmember. One way is to weld a bracket onto the front of your crossmember.
The transmission will fit into your tunnel, and you’ll only need to open up the existing shifter opening to allow the toploader shifter base through.
I currently do not know of a solution to utilize your stock console, so here’s where a little creativity will be required.
