There are several choices of T56s to choose from to go into your ‘early’ GM:
- ‘93-’97 Camaro T56 with hyd factory (‘93-’97 Camaro) pull style clutch setup
- ‘93-’97 Camaro T56 with original clutch setup
- ‘98 Camaro T56 (LS1)
- GM Aftermarket T56

‘93-’97 Camaro T56 (LT1, #016)
With hyd factory (‘93 -’97 Camaro) pull style clutch setup:

You can bolt this T56 right up to your early block. And you can fabricate the entire clutch setup from the doner car into your car. Just beware of space limitations with the older cars, and be sure to reinforce the firewall for the master cylinder. This transmission utilizes a 27 spline slip yoke, which is the same as a TH350 yoke.
Basically you need to find a doner car (‘93-’97 Camaro) for the whole clutch setup. It’s a ‘pull style’ clutch. For an example, see this pic:
- a flywheel that will bolt to your early GM crank, and will work with the pull style clutch setup. They run $375+.
- an electronic speedometer, or our electronic-to-mechanical speedo adapter ($350)
- to modify your crossmember
- shorten your driveshaft
With your ‘early’ GM original clutch setup:

This swap is pretty easy. With our conversion kit, it will bolt right up to your bellhousing, use your stock clutch setup, stock fork, pilot bearing, throwout bearing, etc. This transmission utilizes a 27 spline slip yoke, which is the same as a TH350 yoke.
- Our conversion kit for the correct input shaft and bearing retainer, and adapter plate, $600
- an electronic speedometer, or our electronic-to-mechanical speedo adapter ($350)
- custom pilot bushing
- 26 spline clutch disk
- to modify your crossmember

‘98 Camaro T56 (LS1, # 017)

It will bolt right up to your bellhousing, use your stock clutch setup, stock fork, pilot bearing, throwout bearing, etc. This transmission utilizes a 27 spline slip yoke, which is the same as a TH350 yoke.You’ll need:
- an adapter plate ($350.00+)
- an electronic speedometer, or our electronic-to-mechanical speedo adapter
- custom pilot bearing ($65.00+)
- 26 spline clutch disk
- to modify your crossmember
- shorten your driveshaft and install the slip yoke
GM Aftermarket T56 (# 011)
This swap will be the simplest and least expensive. It will bolt right up to your bellhousing, use your stock clutch setup, stock fork, pilot bearing, throwout bearing, etc. This transmission utilizes a 27 spline slip yoke, which is the same as a TH350 yoke.
